Can I still get into San Jose State with a GED?

Let's handle your questions one at a time. Only San Jose State can tell you accurately whether they will accept the GED for admissions purposes. Here's how to find out: Check out their online catalog and look under "admissions." The requirements should be spelled out. If GED is listed as acceptable, then that ends the matter. You can also try visiting or calling the admissions office. Someone there can answer the question for you as well. Regarding the SAT/ACT, I believe you can retake the tests any time you want. For the SAT, visit the website of Educational Testing Service and you should be able to find instructions on how to apply to take the test. There is probably a website for the ACT as well. I believe that as long as you pay the money, you can make an appointment to take the test. And, by the way, the matter of admission to SJSU is not finished if they tell you that GED is not accepted. What you should do is go to a community college and get an associate's degree. Most of them accept the GED for admission. The associate's will take you a couple of years, but you will then qualify as a transfer student, and universities don't care what you did before earning your most recent degree. If your associate's degree is supported by lots of good grades in challenging classes, you'll end up at SJSU, and nobody will care about your GED.
